just when i'm starting to get into this patience thing, we get a call from our caseworker, raquel. there's nothing like seeing a texas area code on the caller ID to get the old blood pumping.
raquel said our profile (the big scrapbook thingy that tells our life story) has been given to a birth mom. i'm not sure i want to know that. maybe i'm the kind of gal who should be on a need-to-know basis. it'll be hard to think about anything else until we know if we've been matched with her or not.
i had a little convo w/God that went a little something like this:
me: ok, God, you know i don't do well w/these kinds of decisions. if she picks us, i'm going to take that as a sign that this is supposed to be our baby.
God: i understand, but....
me: cause you know, i need you to completely shut a door i'm not supposed to walk through.
God: that's not always how it works...
me: ok, good talk. thanks!
apparently i barely let Him get a word in edge-wise, but we're still working on that. anyway, lots of stuff has to happen. 1st, she has to pick us. 2nd, the baby boy (i love boys) has the potential to have sickle cell anemia or just be a carrier. if he's only a carrier, it's no biggie. if he has full blown SCA, he would be placed in the special needs adoption program b/c that's a major medical deal.
the only other info i know right now is that her due date is the end of november, it takes 3 weeks after the baby's born to complete the testing, and i'm just waiting to see what God has in store for our family. to all my praying friends out there, please say an extra one for us--i appreciate it!

Meredith, it was nice to meet you tonight at Tara's shower. I love meeting other adoptive parents!! I will have to watch your blog for updates, hopefully soon there will be pictures of a baby:-) I wanted to let you know too, if you wanted to come to Tulsa for my shower next Sunday, you are more then welcome too!! I know it is short notice but there will be many adoptive Mom's there!! jocbro@cox.net is my email!!
